We are well known around the world for our wonderful sea life and we are proud to be the location of the second largest barrier reef in the world.The reef is inhabited by hundreds of different species ranging from the smallest sea horse to the enormous grouper. Don’t hesitate to immerse yourself in this underwater world of color. Diving and snorkelling are just a few of the many ways you can do this. There are DAN certified dive master ready and willing to share this underwater adventure with you.
Fishing expeditions in this wonderful area are also available with the authorized guides. Feel free to bring in your catch and have one of our local cooks fry it up for you.
If your interests lie more toward relaxing our town has more than kilometer of white sandy beaches where you can enjoy a delicious meal, refreshing beverage and the warm sun.
For all of our land lovers, Mahahuals town is surrounded by manglar which is protected by the government due to its healthy ecosystem. Consider taking a tour and if you are lucky you may just catch a peak of one of our many inhabitants, we are home to many species of birds, reptiles, crocodiles and even the occasional jaguar.
